Attending XR events could be one of the most important aspects for all XR creators and educators and the Unite Conference, hosted by Unity Technologies, is no exception.
Learning Unity tool is the base and foundation for all XR Bootcamp’s courses and this software development company is now the main sponsor for the Beyond Inclusion scholarship. With that in mind, it was hard to miss its only annual gathering with thousands of game developers and creators that was held in Amsterdam last year.
At the Unite Amsterdam, the Beyond Inclusion scholarship program was announced. XR Bootcamp annually supports students from underrepresented communities to make an inclusive and diverse XR industry.
This year the scholarship is sponsored by Unity, which makes participating in Unite more special.
“Learning XR was the best thing I ever did for my career. But not everyone has equal access,” Antonia Forster, a senior XR Technical Specialist at Unity, posted to promote the scholarship opportunity.
“To that end, XR Bootcamp has created the Beyond Inclusion Program, a 4-month program specifically aimed at helping diverse groups to get a chance to work in the XR industry and jump-start (or transition) their career.”
Meanwhile, XR Bootcamp was also planning for the first Mixed Reality course with Meta Engineers on a learning platform called Udemy.
Our team met with Meta at the Unite conference to discuss plans for the course and sought support from influencers and content creators to join.
Now with more than 4200 students enrolled on Udemy, XR Bootcamp successfully guides VR/AR developers to deep dive into the mixed reality.
The course is available for free to anyone with the discount code.
One of the key takeaways from the Unite was the insights into upcoming features of Unity and XR platforms.
Unite Amsterdam was the first event where developers learned about Unity’s most updated features, including Unity 6 launching April this year, and its support for the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3.
This was also the occasion where Apple held a flagship session showing how to build a game for the new Vision Pro.
“It was amazing, I would suggest registering for the sessions before attending the conference. And networking especially on the first night is very helpful to build long-lasting connections,” XR Bootcamp CEO, Ferhan Özkan said.
